Data Warehousing

data warehouse (DW or DWH), is a system used for reporting and data analysis.  It is considered to be a core component of Business Intelligence environment. DWs are central repositories of integrated data from one or more disparate sources.

The Business Analyst will drop the data into the DW and use the appropriate data mining
tools to analyse the data to create business intelligence.

Copious amounts of data can be manipulated using this approach.  I have found R to be helpful with analysing a variety of data to assess patterns and bell curves in a warehouse of data.
